Comfort Zone

Honestly, I don’t understand on how could someone or anyone enjoying themselves in their own comfort zone for years? Have life become so meaningless for them? Do they scared of changes? or do they scared of themselves to be someone else? But what living are supposed to mean if you live it in black and white or grey?

Lately, I’m deeply in love and empowered by The Greatest Showman’s soundtrack songs. I feel the power of each song, not just the beat but the lyric too. There’s this song called “The Other Side” , where Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum and Zac Efron as Philip Carlyle

[P.T. Barnum]
Now is this really how you like to spend your days?
Whiskey and misery, and parties and plays

[Phillip Carlyle]
If I were mixed up with you, I’d be the talk of the town
Disgraced and disowned, another one of the clowns

[P.T. Barnum]
But you would finally live a little, finally laugh a little
Just let me give you the freedom to dream and it’ll
Wake you up and cure your aching
Take your walls and start ’em breaking
Now that’s a deal that seems worth taking
But I guess I’ll leave that up to you

I mean it’s just a simple song but the part where Hugh replied with “but you would finally live a little, finally laugh a little”, that’s part awake me. I asked myself “when did the last time I live life more excited? when did I laugh a little more, a little louder?

I realize that I’ve been too long in my comfort zones, I’ve been doing this so called repetitious life for a year or two or maybe my whole life. The last time when I was truly free, at peace was back in 2011, when I ran away from home and stayed in Banglore for almost 3 weeks and New Delhi for 3 months. There, I felt so free, so burdenless, so much freedom, I feel alive — I breath freely, I smell freedom. It wasn’t the art of not doing anything, but it’s more like new place, new excitements, new worries, new hassles, but yet you take it all with positivities, with encouragements, with LOVE!

I listen to The Greatest Showman soundtracks and each song make me even stronger and make me realise that “I’m getting rusty”. — Well, are you? This comfort zone have been eating each part of me including the excitements, the creativities and my “happy-go-lucky” attitudes. In other side, this comfort zone make me feel calmer, with peaceful innerself, but the “other side” of me is trapped so deep that I could feel the fire is burning more and more each day but then, it burnt out until I become “cool down” again.

I do enjoy when I become calmer but this year, I feel I need to spark that fire again. This year must be different. I’m already tired of writting, telling, and living with the same old patterns and routines. I become “ accustomed “ to it, it has become habits. Yes, if it’s positive habits, it’ll be great but sometimes, we also have to “modify” them, right? We have to make those positivities to grow wider and bigger.

I’ve had enough of living in my comfort zones. I want to live “little crazy”, I want to “COME ALIVE”! I want to BREATH the FREE things that Life give to us , I want to be FREE yet COMITTED. I want to FLY yet GROUNDED when it’s needed. I want to live with Balance, even it sounds boring, but maybe, that’s what I need to keep myself stay in the right tracks even I’m taking the roads with more adventures — sometimes I move forward running fast, sometimes I move forward with just walking; enjoying the surroundings.

I know it’s easier to be said and done, but once again, perhaps, it’s better if we do it steps by steps with draft plannings. It doesn’t necessary to just be totally crazy but if we add bits of craziness, laughters, joy, in most of the things, then life becomes more living, you become more alive.

So, let’s add this “moving out” from your comfort zones to be one of your new year resolutions because “finding love”, “wanting to settle down”, “better career, more wealth” are just ordinary, it’s just every human basic desire. What if you just “go crazy, a bit more than what you usually do” that can be what if you become “more focus , more caring , more loving, more giving, more receiving, more laughing, more thankful , more traveling, more talking, more hanging out”, add the spice of a bit of “ more” , for new life. And let’s see, if this work out on you or no, if life becomes more fun or boring?

If it makes you weaker, then you aren’t giving yourself a chance because moving out of your comfort zones are discomforting but also awakening. And Hey, if you keep continuing, you’ll find more happiness, getting wiser, becoming “more of you” and also discovering “the new you”.

If you can’t do it, then you’re limiting yourself because breakthrough doesn’t have to be something extravagant. Sometimes, it’s just those little gestures that you barely do such as saying “thank you “, “ i love you” , “hug more of your loved ones” , or even becoming more expressive or more accepting, is already a breakthrough for you and others.

Let’s start to make the draft plannings, shall we? Let us be more alive, more crazy, and more thankful :)
